Growth Scenarios

As part of the long range transportation plan, two growth scenarios were developed for the Casper area.  They outline predicted changes in congestion, vehicle miles traveled (how far we go each day), vehicle hours traveled (how much time to people spend in the car), and potential emissions increase based on whether the population grows outward from existing developed areas (sprawl) or grows within already established areas (compact).  Click the links below to see maps and graphics for each scenario.

Project Priorities

Project priorities were presented to the city council, MPO advisory committees, and public attendees at a series of outreach events at city hall this July.  High priority projects include safety improvements at crosswalks, bicycle and pedestrian trail improvements, and many of the roadway projects included in the Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP).  Also discussed in these sessions were key issues and challenges encountered during the development process, funding, two different growth scenarios for the Casper area, and the project evaluation process.  See the full powerpoint presentation and the full prioritized project list by clicking the links below.  Click on the photos to enlarge.

Updated Goals

As part of the public workshop, the team unveiled the final project goals.  The preliminary goals seemed to hit all the right areas, but the words “and easy” were added to the final goal.  Survey results and public input indicated that the residents of the area are interested in transportation being easy and efficient, and our plan will reflect that.

The Casper Region will undertake transportation investments that:

  • Increase Transportation Options for All Modes
  • Improve Safety and Health for All Residents
  • Enhance The Region’s Distinct Character
  • Support The Region’s Diversifying Economy
  • Promote Affordable and Easy Mobility Solutions

Preliminary Survey Results

The first round of survey results are in!  See below for a summary or check out the full document here.  Our survey will be available through the end of May 2019 if you would like your opinions to be included.
